SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- A mother is thankful that her two children are now safe after the car they were in was stolen outside of a store in San Bernardino.
Tatanisha Golden parked her car outside of a store in the 2000 block of East Highland Avenue and left it running with her two kids in the back seat around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
When she came out, she saw the suspect backing out of the parking lot. She said she jumped on the hood of her car to stop him, but he got away.
"I lost grip as he swerved. I fell off," Golden described.
According to police, some good Samaritans took Golden in their car and followed the suspect while they called 911.
Police found the car with the kids inside - they were OK.
After searching the area, authorities found the suspect and took him into custody. He is being charged with carjacking and kidnapping.
When Golden got her car back, it had a flat tire. When a San Bernardino police officer found out that Golden did not have enough money for a tow truck, he changed her tire for her.
