WOODLAND HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Thieves have stolen donated toys from a Woodland Hills food pantry, possibly leaving the organization without enough presents to go around for its annual toy giveaway.
About 800 children are expected to attend West Valley Food Pantry's event on Dec. 20. Every year parents line up with their children days before the giveaway to receive a toy for the holidays.
Pantry director Debbie Decker believes thieves broke into locked pods holding the toys between Sunday afternoon and Thursday morning.
"Being Santa's Helper is one of the feel-good things that we do," Decker said. "By not having these toys, having them stolen from us so blatantly, this is just devastating."
