LAS VEGAS - A Corona woman clings to life after being shot in the head during the Las Vegas massacre that happened during a country music festival.
Kristina Staples, 34, is currently on life support after undergoing one surgery.
"The message is really help us and all the prayers for Krissy, we're counting on a miracle," her aunt, Karen Ulrich, said.
Staples, who is a huge country music fan, attended the Route 91 Harvest Festival with her husband Danny. Three days after the festival ended, they remain in Vegas as Staples continues to fight for her life.
"Toward the end of the night, Kristina told her husband that she was going to work her way to the front of the stage. So they were separated when the gunfire started," her uncle, Dean Ulrich, said.
The Ulrichs, of Lake Forest, have been by their niece's side since Monday.
"It was a very tough ride, especially the fact that Kristina's mom about over 30 years ago was killed in a car wreck. She actually was in a coma for over four days before she passed," Dean said. "So coming in to see Kristina in this kind of condition really brought back some terrible memories."
For her family, all they can do is wait and hope for the best. They're thankful for the overwhelming response from their community back home and in Las Vegas.
"The community of Nevada and the officials have just been outstanding. The hospital, everybody has just reached out and come together and are very helpful to us," Dean said.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help her family pay medical expenses, you may donate by clicking here.
