LOS ANGELES - A man suspected of fatally stabbing his wife in front of their 12-year-old son in a Sherman Oaks apartment was arrested Monday morning.
A Ventura County sheriff's sergeant spotted a person on the roadway and took them to a hospital, according to authorities. The sergeant then recognized the man as the suspect involved in the fatal stabbing, and he was arrested.
It was unclear where in Ventura County the suspect, 38-year-old Aurelio Teran, was found or why he was on a street.
He is suspected of stabbing his 31-year-old wife to death in front of their son Sunday afternoon. The incident happened at an apartment complex in the 4900 block of Woodman Avenue.
Authorities said the child ran out of the unit yelling for help. When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from stab wounds. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The motive for the stabbing was unclear. The child was placed in protective services, authorities said.
