COVINA, Calif. - ABC7 salutes a 9/11 day of service project by more than 400 8th graders in Covina.
The Sierra Vista Middle School students are creating hard copy archives for 99 Medal of Honor recipients.
Since 1984, the bios of the last 99 recipients have only been archived digitally on the congressional medal of honor website.
"I think it's really cool that we're able to do this because it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Rufo Jarson, an 8th grader participating in the project.
History teacher Sheila Edwards said as part of the project, the kids are reaching out to the families of the medal recipients to get additional information.
The printed biographies should be complete by next week. They will go on display at the Henry Knox Museum in Maine.
