Bob Miller, the voice of the Los Angeles Kings for 44 years, is expected to receive a statue in his honor outside the arena. His likeness will join those of other Southern California sports icons like Chick Hearn, Wayne Gretzky and Magic Johnson.
The Los Angeles City Council also honored the broadcaster this week with the declaration of "Bob Miller Day."
The statue will be unveiled Jan. 13 when the Kings host the Anaheim Ducks.
During his time as a sportscaster, Miller called more than 3,300 Kings games, including when LA won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014.
He is a member of the hockey hall of fame and has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
