VENICE, LOS ANGELES - A man was shot with a pellet gun after two intruders broke into his multimillion-dollar home in Venice early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Mark Woodcock said he was awakened by the sound of breaking glass just before 3 a.m. at his house in the 2500 block of Grand Canal.
"I saw two guys, one who had just broken the glass," Woodcock said. "The second one pointed a pistol at me - I didn't know what it was at the time - and fired ... still didn't think anything of it."
The homeowner, who was not seriously injured, ran downstairs after he saw the second intruder entering the house.
"And just as I did that, I saw him running back out," Woodcock said, adding that that he did not get a good look at either of the robbers.
An unspecified amount of cash was stolen in the break-in.
Los Angeles police responded to the scene and conducted a search that was supported by a helicopter unit.
The suspects remained at large.
