2 arrested after series of Burbank fires

BURBANK (KABC) Firefighters responded to a fire at Michael's Bar and Grill in Burbank shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday morning. Investigators determined the fire started in a patio area, and that it was deliberately set.

They also found four or five other small fires set along Florence Ave., in patios areas and next to parked cars.

Set on fire were a Christmas tree on a curb, a Santa Claus doll on the porch of a house and some car bumpers, Berry said. All of the fires occurred during a 15-minute span and were located within blocks of one another, he added.

A perimeter was set up by Burbank police and a short time later two 17-year-old boys from Burbank were found hiding in the backyard of a home, Berry said. The boys were arrested on suspicion of arson to an inhabited dwelling, he said.

An investigation was under way to determine if the two set the fires, he said.

All the blazes were easily dealt with, and no one was hurt, Berry said.
