Man killed after rampage in Chino market

CHINO (KABC) Police say they think this all started over a domestic dispute. The 25-year-old man man walked into the Rio Ranch Market in Chino where his girlfriend and her sister worked around 1 p.m. The man had his two children with him. Moments after entering the store, the man opened fire.

He shot both his girlfriend and her sister. He then took the girlfriend hostage.

"First, everyone thought it was a balloon that went off -- you know, in stores it happens sometimes," said Fabio Cebreros, a store customer. "But then after you heard two more shots randomly just go off; you heard them, probably within 30 seconds of each other -- pow pow. Then everybody just started chaos."

The gunman was holding a gun to his girlfriend's head in the back of the store. That's when police moved in and killed the suspect.

"One of our officers was able to get a good line of sight between him and the hostage and the shooter. And we were able to resolve the situation by the officer firing a round at the suspect," said Lt. Al Cheatham of the Chino Police.

The suspect was killed by police.

One of the victims was air lifted to a hospital. Police say both victims have non life-threatening injuries.
