Daily soy helps women fight belly fat

It seems a daily serving of soy may stop postmenopausal women from getting the middle-age spread.Researchers studied 18 postmenopausal women and found that those who drank a soy-based shake every day for three months tended to gain less abdominal fat than those who had a milk-based shake.

Scientists say soy contains compounds that may in theory help regulate body fat metabolism and abdominal fat distribution. However, they say larger, longer-term studies are needed.
