Do over-the-counter cough syrups work?

(KABC) Just last week the FDA warned parents not to use cough syrups for children under two. A health group reviewed 25 studies on how well cough medicine works in adults. It found that it's actually unclear whether any of the cough syrups work any better than a placebo.

But many of those studies that showed a positive result were done by pharmaceutical companies.

The authors of this new study say there may be a potential industry bias.
