Confusing drug names behind mix ups

(KABC) One estimate shows that more than a million Americans are injured each year by medical errors. While some are due to incorrect dosing, a new report finds that many happen because of confusing drug names. For example, Zyrtec, an allergy pill, sounds very similar to Zantec, a drug prescribed for heartburn.

One way you can prevent a mix up is to keep a complete list of all the medications you take.

Researchers would also like to see prescription labels include what condition the drug is for.
