The son and brother of fugitive drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman were sentenced to prison and fined for money laundering, Mexico's federal attorney general's office said Tuesday. Guzman's son, Ivan Guzman, was given a five-year term and ordered to pay a $18,800 fine, while his brother, Miguel Angel Guzman Loera, received 13 years in prison and a fine of $14,500. The attorney general's office didn't say when they were sentenced.

Ivan Guzman was arrested on Feb. 13, 2005, in Guadalajara, allegedly as he prepared to kill a man for losing a drug shipment in Texas.

He has also been accused of killing Canadian woman Kristen Paige Deyell and Mexican man Cesar Augusto Pulido outside a bar in the city of Zapopan in April 2004.

Joaquin Guzman escaped from prison in 2001 and allegedly went on to start a bloody turf war that has killed hundreds of people on the Mexico-U.S. border.

He is one of Mexico's most-wanted fugitives, and U.S. authorities have offered a $5 million reward for his capture.
