Son, brother of Mexican drug lord sentenced

Drug lord is still on the lam
MEXICO CITY Guzman's son, Ivan Guzman, was given a five-year term and ordered to pay a $18,800 fine, while his brother, Miguel Angel Guzman Loera, received 13 years in prison and a fine of $14,500. The attorney general's office didn't say when they were sentenced.

Ivan Guzman was arrested on Feb. 13, 2005, in Guadalajara, allegedly as he prepared to kill a man for losing a drug shipment in Texas.

He has also been accused of killing Canadian woman Kristen Paige Deyell and Mexican man Cesar Augusto Pulido outside a bar in the city of Zapopan in April 2004.

Joaquin Guzman escaped from prison in 2001 and allegedly went on to start a bloody turf war that has killed hundreds of people on the Mexico-U.S. border.

He is one of Mexico's most-wanted fugitives, and U.S. authorities have offered a $5 million reward for his capture.
