Saab driver crashes, dies in Newport Beach

The driver's name is being withheld

NEWPORT BEACH The driver, in a silver 2007 Saab, was traveling north on San Miguel Drive when she failed to stop at a three-way intersection.

The motorist struck an awning in Bonita Canyon Sports Park before coming to a rest in the parking lot.

The accident was reported at 2:05 a.m., according to Newport Beach police Sgt. Tom Fischbacher.

Police are withholding the name of the driver until her next of kin can be notified.

Any witnesses are urged to call investigators at (949) 644-3746.
