Expressway could ease Cajon Pass traffic

CAJON PASS A plan is in development to create a stretch of new roadway through the high desert corridor from Victorville to Palmdale, and eventually to Interstate 5.

The E220 would give drivers more options and get commuters off two-lane highways, such as the 138.

Part of the plan revolves around the construction of a railway yard in Victorville, which would allow freight to be carried by rail instead of on the road.

Construction won't begin on phase one for at least five years, and the new highway could be a toll road.
