Many skip class after message in paper

February 22, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
What some viewed as a threatening message in a high school newspaper prompted about half of the school's students to skip classes in Anaheim on Friday.Police have increased their presence at Savanna High School ever since the message appeared in the paper's Valentine's Day issue. It said in part, "To Metal Destroyer Militia, remember guys, we all go down 2-22. Let's quit stalling."

While some believe the message was harmless, school officials and police say campus security patrols were boosted as a precaution.

No incidents were reported Friday.
