Mayor discusses violence in south L.A

Hundreds turned out for a community meeting in south Los Angeles, following a shooting at a bus stop that left eight people injured, including five students at Carver Middle School.Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Bill Bratton were at the meeting to discuss the violence that plagues the area.

They told parents crime overall is down but police presence needs to be stepped up.

Some say more than that is needed, like parental involvement and school programs.
