THOUSAND OAKS --
State Senator Tom McClintock of Thousand Oaks is under fire for receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax-free per diem payments from the state. The payments of 170 dollars-a-day are intended for legislators who live far from Sacramento.
But McClintock and his family live about 14 miles from the state capitol, year-round.
The Republican lawmaker has received $306,000 during his eight years in the state senate.
McClintock says he is entitled to the money because Thousand Oaks is his legal city of residence.
