CHICOPEE, Mass. --
Authorities say a truck driver has died after his tanker truck rolled over and exploded in an accident that blocked a major highway in western Massachusetts. Police say the New Hampshire man's tanker truck swerved to avoid a car and crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 91 at Chicopee, Mass., Friday morning.
Abenaqui Carriers of North Hampton, N.H., says the tanker was carrying 9,500 gallons of gasoline and 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
Officials at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston say 43-year-old Aaron Staelens died several hours after the wreck.
State Police say the driver of the car likely will face charges.
