The toddler is in critical condition; and with injuries so severe, the infant was initially not expected to survive.
Police were called to the apartment complex on the 38000 block of 20th Street East at 10:45 Friday night.
That's where they found the child severely beaten.
The case has been referred to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau.
