The Canadian import is not only known for her time on the track, but she's been getting a lot of attention off the track.

Sutherland has been named one of People magazine's "100 Most Beautiful People."

She has also been featured in Vogue and in Sports Illustrated. The magazine or perks as she calls them, she enjoys, but her passion is racing and she's winning.

She has had 16 wins so far and that's not bad for riding a few long shots at Santa Anita.

"It has been going pretty good. I have had a lot of success and I am really happy about how people have treated me here. They are giving me a shot and the horses are really good. The track is playing in my favor it seems like. It is just great," said Sutherland.

She's been riding professionally for seven years. The 32-year-old jockey is riding Shore Do, horse number 7 in the Santa Anita Derby.

"I have gone through the race and I am just so excited to be in the race. I am going to let it happen the way it should happen," said Sutherland.

She is riding high right now. She admits though, that as well as things are going for her now, one bad day at the track can humble you real fast.

"It is a humbling sport. Because in one day you can win or the next day things cannot be going so good. So I try not to take to much responsibility if the horses do not run well. I just try to perform my best and just be happy," said Sutherland.

There is a lot more riding on the race then just a boost to her career. Eight Santa Anita Derby winners have gone on to win the Kentucky Derby.
