A routine equipment failure is being blamed for triggering a small power outage in Encino that resulted in a manhole cover being dislodged.Firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming out of that manhole cover on the 5100 block of North White Oak Avenue just after 6:30 p.m Tuesday.
Crews determined the smoke was coming from a faulty underground electrical vault.
Seven office buildings lost power for about two hours while utility crews fixed the problem.
No one was hurt.
Officials say this was an entirely different situation than the underground vault explosions that killed a firefighter two weeks ago.
