April 10, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Actress Mischa Barton has been sentenced to three years of probation after pleading no contest to driving under the influence. She was arrested back on Dec. 27 after deputies spotted her car weaving between lanes of traffic. Along with her probation, Barton was ordered to attend a three month alcohol education program, and will be fined $1,600.

Prosecutors had also charged Barton with being an unlicensed driver and possession of 28.5 grams or less of marijuana. The first charge was reduced to an infraction and the drug charge was dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Barton did not attend the court hearing in Beverly Hills. Her attorney. Anthony V. Salerno, entered the plea on her behalf.

"Ms. Barton understands the seriousness of this situation and assumes full responsibility for her actions," Salerno said. "She and I are grateful to the court and the District Attorney's Office for the prompt and respectful resolution of the case."
