Man pistol-whipped during robbery

NORWALK Two men entered the Valero gas station on Imperial Highway just before 11 p.m. Saturday, April 5. One of the suspects can be seen clearly on the surveillance video as he points a semi-automatic handgun at a man police identified as the clerk's boyfriend, who was waiting for her to get off work.

Police say the employee was threatened that if he moved, he would be shot.

"One of the suspects took the clerk to the rear of the store, where he pistol-whipped him, told him not to move," said Lt. Bill Evans of the Norwalk Sheriff's Department.

While one suspect hit the victim with a pistol, another suspect tried to force his way into the cashier's booth, which activated the alarm, said Det. Gregory Guttierrez. The suspects fled and did not obtain any property.

The two suspects were described as black men between the ages of 18 and 22.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Norwalk Sheriff's Station at (562) 863-8711.
