4th-graders help unveil a new peace mural

An effort to stamp out gang violence is underway in Gardena.This weekend a peace mural was unveiled there.

Eighteen fourth graders, from Harbor Gateway, helped make the mural.

It was presented at the 186th Street Elementary school as part of the first International Cultural Festival.

The organization, Create Now, put on the event.

Since 1996, it has helped thousands of troubled children and youth through mentoring, resources, and opportunities.
