Research reveals Americans aren't living longer

April 21, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
The latest research reveals that Americans aren't living longer and in some cases they are living shorter lives. While the average lifespan increased by six years for women and seven years for men between 1960 and 2000, since then, scientists say those numbers haven't gone up.

In some counties, researchers found that almost 20 percent of the women were living to the same age or less.

Those counties were mostly found in the Deep South and in parts of Texas.
