Fire air support not ready until May 1

April 22, 2008 7:54:15 AM PDT
California's Air Fire Patrols are not fully staffed, and that has a California lawmaker calling for changes.Air tankers are considered the best line of defense to stop major fires. However, CAL FIRE says conditions are much better this year than the same time last year, and it hasn't staffed air tankers yet because conditions don't require it.
