As SAG talks end, new talks begin

HOLLYWOOD Producers broke off contract talks with SAG on Tuesday. Both sides had sought to avoid a repeat of the hundred day writers strike that ended in February.

SAG's contract for films and prime time TV shows expires June 30.

"We've taken proposal after proposal off the table. We're very close on the economic package. It's not about money, it's about the philosophical issues. They want to take away our right to say no to things that are really abhorrent to us," said SAG President Alan Rosenberg.

The AMPTP says the two sides are far apart on DVD residuals and new media.
