Report: O.C. patient dumped on skid row

According to the L.A. Times, prosecutors say College Hospital in Costa Mesa left a mentally ill patient near the Union Rescue Mission downtown. A hospital van left the man there after discharging him last week.

The man, who is described as schizophrenic and bipolar, was taken to another hospital after mission workers found him.

Prosecutors have investigated more than 50 patient dumping cases since 2005, but virtually all have focused on hospitals in the Los Angeles area.
