Police were still on scene Wednesday afternoon as they set up a perimeter and continued searching for the suspect. They say the shooting happened at Super Sal's Market, a kosher delicatessen and market in Encino on the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Texhoma Ave.

The shooting occurred just after noon. Police say a man in his 20s was sitting right outside the market having lunch with his friends, when another man walked up to him and shot him several times. Police say the suspect then ran away and the search continues for that suspect.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and he is reportedly expected to survive. He was listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon. He was shot several times in his legs.

Police currently have no motive for the shooting. One witness believes the suspect and the victim knew each other. He says he actually saw the victim speak to the suspect right before he ws shot.

"Well, what's weird is that the guy that got shot only said, 'I know you from somewhere, don't I?' And then the guy pulled his gun out and shot him three times," said eyewitness Steven Sawyer.

"The suspect fled southbound on Texhoma Avenue from Ventura Boulevard," said LAPD Lieutenant Steven Sambar. "We currently still have K-9 officers searching the residence here, looking for the suspect."

Police say there are two high schools in the vicinity of this search. They have not been locked down, but they have been alerted.

Police continue the search on the ground and by air using a helicopter.

Police have a very simple description of the suspect: They say he is male in his 20s, 6 feet tall, and they believe he is wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt.
