Showers trigger mudslides in Sierra Madre

SIERRA MADRE Many are waking up to wet weather.

Friday, it was really coming down. Showers triggered mudslides in Sierra Madre.

Conditions for slides made perfect by a 584-acre wildfire earlier this month. No homes were damaged in Friday's slides.

Authorities say none are in any immediate danger Saturday morning.

But that hasn't stopped residents for preparing for the worst.

"I kinda ad-libbed and got whatever I could to keep the mud from coming in," says Sierra Madres resident Scott Smith. "I got lumber together then attached them to the walls."

The same story in burn areas in Orange County.

At one point in Santiago Canyon Friday, more than an inch of rain fell in just ten minutes causing slides there as well.
