Cat put in charge of 10 train stations

"Tama" is a nine-year-old cat who wears a formal uniform cap of the Wakayama electric railway. She is the company's only stationmaster because it is trying to reduce costs.

Officials say her role has given the line a boost. The number of passengers jumped two million in a year. The company was so happy that tama got a promotion.

She is now super stationmaster, and she even has her own office, a former ticket booth, complete with a litter box.
