Officer shot, wounded, serving warrant

An officer serving a search warrant was shot by a suspect in Boyle Heights Thursday.The officer was reportedly serving a narcotics search warrant when one of the suspects opened fire. According to LAPD Officer April Harding, two officers were in an alley when they were fired upon.

One suspect was reportedly found dead at the scene. Police arrested a second suspect.

Police set up a perimeter in the area of Malabar, Mott and Boulder streets, and searched for a third suspect, and eventually apprehended the suspect.

Police reportedly began evacuating residents from the area at approximately 4 p.m. while police searched the surroundings house by house. The evacuation was lifted about 8 p.m.

The wounded officer's leg was grazed in the shooting. The officer sustained a minor injury and was taken to a hospital.
