LOS ANGELES --
Most teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District would be allowed to keep their jobs under the new school budget guidelines.Faced with one of the largest budget deficits in many years, the LAUSD approved the proposed guidelines Tuesday.
They were able to preserve classroom programs for students and maintain funding for school safety.
While most teachers would keep their jobs, some provisional teachers could be impacted.
LAUSD's budget cuts are in response to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's $3 billion education cut statewide.
