Parents of slain child seek safety measures

BALDWIN HILLS They want new safety measures put in place to prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again.

Eight-year-old Leonard Batiste's parents say he was crossing the street on Monday night, when a speeding car struck him.

The boy died in his mothers arms.

The Batistes say there are no speed bumps or flashing lights to slow down traffic near their home on Marlton and Santa Rosalia Boulevard.

They want the city to take action.

L.A. Civil Rights Association officials say they will join the parents at city council to fight for these measures.
