Knott's ride traps passengers in air

June 23, 2008 5:40:57 AM PDT
Firefighters rescued two dozen people after their ride at Knott's Berry Farm became stuck, leaving them trapped in the air. The Sky Cabin, considered the park's mildest ride, came to a complete stop Sunday.

The passengers, including some children, had to descend nearly three stories to reach safety. Those who were afraid of heights used this platform to get down.

Park officials said they were prepared, and all passengers remained calm.

"There's a way to get it down, and there is a way to internally with a ladder. But this is more convenient for our guests and quicker, so the fire department is very helpful," said Jennifer Blazy from Knott's Berry Farm.

Knott's Berry Farm said the Sky Cabin underwent routine maintenance three weeks ago, but they don't know why it stopped working.
