S.D. tribe granted delay of $30M payment

The Sycuan tribe is supposed to pay the state $30 million, but the Schwarzenegger administration granted them a delay.

The decision was made just days after the tribe gave $45,000 to a redistricting effort promoted by the governor.

The tribe said the timing is just a coincidence.

The state has allowed the Sycuan and three other tribes to expand gambling operations in exchange for more of the profits.
