Man stabbed 18 times in the back

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect who stabbed a man repeatedly in the back at a shopping center in Norwalk.It happened just before midnight at a Target shopping center on the 12300 block of Norwalk Boulevard. The victim later died at the hospital.

It was a very brutal attack. Deputies say the man was stabbed as many as 18 times in the back.

Police don't have a motive or a description of the suspect. They are hoping surveillance video from a camera positioned just above where the attack happened will help them in the investigation.

A 911 call came in around midnight. It was first reported as a shooting, but when deputies arrived they found the victim had been stabbed 18 times in the back.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say they are withholding the victim's identity until they can contact the man's family.

Deputies are still hoping there are people who witnessed the attack or have information leading them to the suspect.
