"It's like, yes! You know you kind of broke through and it's like they've discovered they can reach their goals, that they can reach it, it's really rewarding," said Terry.

When not on the ice, Terry gives much of her time to church groups here and an orphanage in Mexico. No matter where she is, Terry gives for the sake of giving.

"I call it 'super achiever,'" said school director Melinda Taylor. "She's a pleasure to work with, she was here every day for five years and never accepted a single penny for any of it."

Having lived with her adoptive family for most of her life, Terry has a special place in her heart for the children on the other side of the border.

"They all have seen huge traumas. They live at the orphanage. When people come, their face just glows," said Terry. "It's like, 'Oh my god, these kids have come to play with us and be with us.' It's really amazing."

With those children in mind and her life experiences guiding her, Terry has her sights set on a career in social work.

"If they were hurt or abused, I would like to bring to them a great family, because I've been through that, and I've been placed with an amazing family. That's what I want to bring to other children," said Terry.

For young ones gliding through life or facing its obstacles, our Cool Kid Terry Woodmansee is there to help.
