Proposed housing project sparks protest

SAN PEDRO Nearly 2,000 homes and condos would be built at the Ponte Vista development.

Hundreds showed up to a community meeting in San Pedro to hear the developer's plans. Some 2,000 residential units are expected to be built on a 61-acre plot that formerly was Navy housing, and a six-acre park will be included.

Some residents believe traffic congestion will be a nightmare.

The developer says he's willing to spend eight million dollars to improve traffic flow in the area.

The project till needs City Council approval.
