Cargo train derails in Irwindale

IRWINDALE The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to Arrow Highway and Azusa Canyon Road after train cars fell on their side on a Union Pacific Railroad at about 3:30 a.m. Officials said four cars are on their side.

Hazardous materials crews were also called after authorities discovered an unknown substance flowing out of one of the train cars. The substance turned out to be not harmful and was determined to be a moisturizer used in cosmedics.

There were no evacuations or injuries.
