LOS ANGELES --
The Los Angeles City Council is expected to approve a half million dollars to pay for an environmental impact report on a controversial traffic initiative. The city wants to turn Olympic and Pico Boulevards into one-way streets.
The project, favored by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, has prompted several lawsuits.
Opponents say the plan will make it harder to park and lead to more traffic in their neighborhoods.
If approved, the environmental impact report is expected to take several months to complete.
