Skin infections in kids have risen

Serious skin infections in children have risen dramatically in the last few years. In fact, they are now one of the most common causes for kids being hospitalized.According to researchers, the children most at risk are young kids, those 4-years-old and under.

But skin infection rates have shot up amongst teens, too. Experts suspect overuse of uneccessary antibiotics is to blame. For example: when they are given to treat ear infections or bronchitis, which is most often caused by a virus, not bacteria.
