When they got inside, they saw several people and one of the suspects started shooting. Four male residents in the home were hurt. Two of the men were shot and wounded, and another suffered head injuries possibly from being pistol-whipped. The fourth man received minor injures during a fight with one of the gunmen.

Police say the other intruder was shot and killed inside the home. The other intruder fled the scene in what is believed to be a small gray or silver Honda and remains at large.

All the injured residents of the house were treated at local hospitals and released Thursday night. They are all expected to survive.

The home is in a neighborhood about a mile from the UC Riverside campus. Neighbors say they believe the residents are students at the university.

Investigators say some of the people involved may be connected to Asian gangs.

"I'm shocked because, I mean, this area that we lived in, you know, we moved here for a reason 'cuz it's nice and peaceful," said neighbor Jorge Espinosa. "Now it's scary, you know, 'cuz my kids play out in the daytime -- that's when it happened."

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Riverside Police Department at (951) 787-7911.
