Hollywood robbery victim speaks out

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. Law enforcement reports at least seven armed robberies in the Melrose area in the last week alone.

The last robbery was about a week ago when someone walking alone was robbed at gunpoint.

The targets seem to be employees of the stores along Melrose.

The robbers often use parked cars as hiding places.

"He popped out, and he pointed a gun at me and said, 'Give me your wallet.' I threw the wallet on the ground. I backed up, and he said, 'How much money do you have on you,' and I said 'That's it, that's it,' and he took off and ran," the victim said.

Katan Khaimov, 70, was going for his daily stroll back in March when he was attacked and stabbed to death. No one has been arrested for his murder. There is nearly a $70,000 reward offered for information that leads to an arrest.

It's still unclear whether the robberies are the work of individuals or a gang.

The suspects are only described as in their mid to late 20s.

Anyone with information is urged to call LAPD's Hollywood division at (213) 972-2967.
