Wife escapes husband's alleged torture

HAWTHORNE, Calif. Police say Mohammed Hanafi held is wife hostage for nearly a week, at this home in Hawthorne.

They say he kept her bound, gagged and drugged-- all the time trying to get her to sign divorce papers and give him her assets.

"During that time, she was beaten and allegedly 'Tazed' numerous times in order for her to be forced to sign over some paperwork," said Michael Ishii of the Hawthorne Police Department.

The woman escaped and Hanafi surrendered to police.

Police are now searching for Kisasi Liggins, who they say played a role in the alleged crime.
