Eagle Rock crash victim dies, now 4 dead

EAGLE ROCK, Calif. The gruesome accident happened along the 1800 block of Colorado Boulevard Wednesday night at about 11:15 p.m.

Cristyn Cordova, 19, her 16-year-old sister and a 19-year-old family friend were killed when their speeding Nissan smashed into a tree and burst into flames. Cordova was 8 months pregnant.

Two other victims, also in the Nissan, were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, and on Friday, one of victims, 15-year-old Andrew Cordova, died, according to the coroner's office. He was the brother of the two sisters who died. The other victim, father of the unborn child, is still hospitalized in critical condition.

Police believe the Maxima, a white Mitsubishi and another car were traveling westbound down Colorado Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Mitsubishi slammed into a parked car, the Maxima hit a tree and the third car reportedly fled the scene.

The 19-year-old driving the Mitsubishi, Rostislav Shnayder, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder.

While investigators say street racing is not to blame, excessive speed did play a major role in the crash.

Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD at (877) LAW-FULL, or (877) 529-3855.
