Researchers tracked more than 2,800 men and found the men in the top third of blood calcium levels had more than two and a half times the risk of getting fatal prostate cancer later in life. That's compared to men who had lower blood calcium levels.
Doctors point out there are drugs that can lower calcium levels in blood.
The study is in the Journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention.
