Thief pulls knife to steal iPod on bus

They released the surveillance video from last Wednesday that clearly shows the face of the suspect.

According to officers, the thief didn't know 20 percent of OCTA buses now have high-resolution surveillance cameras.

The suspect can be seen on tape getting on the bus at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo last Wednesday, trying to board for less than the fare. He explained to the driver that he could be thrown in jail if he's late for an appointment.

The camera then shows him moving to the rear of the bus and sitting next to a boy. The boy claims the man threatened him with a knife and took his iPod. Investigators say the man can be seen on tape putting the iPod into his own pocket.

Moments later, the suspect and the iPod exit the bus.

They're hoping someone will recognize him.
