Woman found dead in Santa Ana home

SANTA ANA, Calif. The woman's son reportedly came home just after 2 p.m. on Thursday and called police.

The Santa Ana Police Department found a woman dead in that home, which is on the 2700 block of North Lowell Lane.

The son who made the call to police is believed to be in his early 20s.

Santa Ana police say another child was found in the house with the deceased woman.

"The officers continued to search inside the house and that's when they located a small child inside. The child was unharmed. And the small child and the older son have since been taken from the scene to the station where they are ultimately going to be interviewed," said Corporal Jose Gonzales, Santa Ana Police Department.

Police say the woman was murdered, but they won't say exactly how she died.

Police brought out bloodhounds to track down the scent of the suspect or suspects. Police followed that scent to a telephone booth at a nearby gas station. They seemed to lose the scent at that point.

"It's really quiet and kind of family-oriented. So, it's shocking to hear that somebody was murdered," said Santa Ana resident Steven Corday.

So far police are not saying whether or not there was evidence of forced entry or if a motive has been determined.

If you have any information regarding this case, you should call the Santa Ana Police Department at (714) 245-8390.
